FireBug are British fire fighting equipment manufacturers using water mist technology
FireBug, born in the UK manufactures and supplies to Fire & Rescue Services and Original Equipment Manufacturers with high quality, water efficient fire fighting equipment and cutting-edge technology.
Pushing the boundaries of accepted practices and traditional products, FireBug are committed to the research and development of unique technologies for the fire fighting industry. Through a dedicated development program the company specialises in harnessing the power and simplicity of the previously prohibited natural element "water" in the extinguishing of all fires, including class B and class F fires.
Working in partnership with a number of British Fire and Rescue Services and fire fighting equipment distributer`s and leading fire suppression experts, all equipment is tried and tested to the maximum, being designed, created and recreated until they are perfected.
The products include vehicle fire fighting systems known as the RescueMax, fire fighting skids "MistMax", portable water fire suppression kits in a back pack form "BacPac", fire fighting nozzles "MistNozzle" and more.
The equipment range is cost effective, easy to use, safe for the fire fighter and focusses on water saving at the core of each design, due to the 100% environmentally friendly water mist technology used.
FireBug v Fogging Systems
Why choose FireBug over a fogging system, the simple answer is COST, with a fogging system you have to invest in the complete pump system and infrastructure not to mention locating and plumbing the system in on an appliance which costs thousands but, with the FireBug WaterMist Nozzle it is a simple matter of changing the standard hosereel branch over.
The effect is instantaneous, a reduction in water useage of up to 65% and an increase in the effectiveness of the water being used to fight the fire creating a quicker knock down and extinguish time.
Along with new and unique fire systems FireBug also support their customers with a comprehensive range of traditional product and technologies. The FireBug team are dedicated and focused, committed to making the FireBug experience positive and enjoyable. The team works with an elite number of customers to distribute their technologies through the United Kingdom, the Middle East, Europe and The Africasí.
We have a growing library of videos which we will in time make available through the site but for now, the most compelling video is the one below which demonstrates (under controlled training conditions) how the Maxi WaterMisting branch (formerly known as the ST15) is used to extinguish a gas flame.
Watch how the fine water droplets of the WaterMist branch easily knocks out the fire (and no, they didn`t just turn off the gas) using up to 65% less water than is used in the second example where a competitors branch is used to try unsuccessfully to extinguish the same fire.
FireBug WaterMist operates at a genuine low pressure, atomising into billions of droplets as small as 50 microns in size. To put this into perspective it is important to understand these terminologies.
The WaterMist spectrum is defined by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Code 750 as: a spray with an average droplet size of 1000 microns or less. Therefore WaterMist could be steam from a kettle through to the droplets of water from a shower, an immense difference. Small droplets are more efficient in fire suppression than large droplets, because of their larger total surface area available for evaporation and heat extraction.
The NFPA 750 defines three pressure regions for WaterMist generating technologies; low, intermediate and high-pressure systems. Low pressure systems operate at pressures of 12.0 bar (175 psi) or less, intermediate pressure systems operate at pressures greater than 12.0 bar (175psi) and less than 34.0 bar (500 psi) and high pressure systems operate at pressures greater than 34.0 bar (500psi).
Featured machines in photos may include additional equipment. The specification do not necessarily show the standard version of the machine.
